“Happy Summer! Excited to share the details for Colada Shop’s 3rd Annual Piña Colada Festival kicking off with a lively rooftop party on Wednesday, July 10th on our 14th st location with a variety of complimentary pineapple themed food snacks.

In addition to the Classic Piña Colada (rum, pineapple, coconut milk, coconut cream), we will have 4 different versions of this tropical trifecta of pineapple, roasted coconut and rum. These include originals like the Matcha-Mint Colada (rum, matcha, mint, coconut cream and coconut milk); La Negra Tiene Tumbao (rum, fernet, pineapple, coconut milk, coconut cream); Fresca (rum, coconut water, fresh pressed pineapple juice, coconut syrup); Colada Sangria (coconut rum, white wine, roasted pineapple, coconut water). All cocktails are priced at $9.00.”

WHAT: It has been three years since the emblematic Cuban social hub, Colada Shop, opened its doors in the DMV area and brought to Washingtonians the fascinating culinary landscape of the islands’ favorite bites and drinks. Today, Colada Shop continues to embody the spirit of the island and celebrate this vibrant and energetic culture.

To commemorate this summer, Chef Mario Monte and his team welcome friends and fans to the third annual Piña Colada Festival with an all-night happy hour with $6.00 specials. In addition to the Classic Piña Colada (rum, pineapple, coconut milk, coconut cream), guests will have the opportunity to try 4 different versions of this tropical trifecta of pineapple, roasted coconut and rum. These selections, which will also be available on Thursday’s Havana Nights at special prices, promise to meet the requirements of the perfect treat for this hot summer weather.

The festival will kick off with a tropical party on Tuesday, July 10th starting at 7:00PM at our 14th St. location. Guests will be able to indulge in a variety of pineapple themed food specials and complimentary snacks like Plantain Chips with Pineapple Salsa (fried plantains with homemade pineapple salsa); and Pineapple & Coconut Empanada (warm pastry filled with pineapple chunks and coconut).

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
