“Bowser Administration Asks Residents to Provide Feedback on DC Values”

From a press release:

“Over the past three years, Mayor Bowser and the DC Office of Planning (OP) have collected community input to understand what residents care about most as the District continues to thrive, grow, and prosper. Eight DC values – accessibility, diversity, equity, livability, opportunity, prosperity, resilience, and safety – aim to express the essence of what makes DC home for a diverse, inclusive community. Feedback on these values will help guide OP through the remainder of the Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan) Amendment process.

OP has launched a new DC2ME campaign featuring the values and a community survey. Residents are asked to complete the survey by Sunday, June 30, at dc2me.com/survey. In addition to the website and survey, OP will conduct a series of outreach activities in May and June to share the key values emerging from the Comp Plan update process and seek feedback in creative ways.

“Through the DC2ME website and survey, we are asking residents do these values align with yours?” said Andrew Trueblood, Director of OP. “We are seeking to re-engage the public about the big picture and the most important concepts in the Comp Plan to ensure we produce an amended Comp Plan that represents all DC residents.”

Since the summer of 2016, OP has been leading a major initiative to engage stakeholders and evaluate the text and maps of the current plan. In the spring of 2017, a formal open call for amendments yielded more than 3,000 proposed amendments from the community and District government agencies. Following that milestone, OP drafted legislation amending the foundational chapter of the Comp Plan, called the framework element, which was introduced by the Bowser Administration to DC Council in January 2018. While Council continues to vet the Framework Bill, OP expects the DC2ME platform to help re-engage the public on the latest phase of the [PLAN]DC effort to update the Comp Plan, which was last amended in 2011 and 2012.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
