From Cheesemonster Studio:

Cheesemonster Studio is thrilled to announce its grand opening on Thursday, April 11, at 713 Kennedy St. NW. Cheesemonster was established two years ago as a mobile catering company by cheesemonger Alice Bergen Phillips. The brick and mortar location is a partnership between Bergen Phillips and beverage veterans Hilarey and Brian Leonard of Lost & Found and Free State bars.

The cozy space includes a full service catering prep kitchen for its signature artisan cheeseboards, cafe seating for 20 for cheese and charcuterie boards as well as wine and beer service Thursday-Saturday evenings 4-10pm, and space for private events and classes.

All of our products are carefully sourced from producers with whom Bergen Phillips has created lasting relationships over the years, and will feature local options whenever possible. The Leonards will be adding a robust seasonal beverage program with by the glass and bottle, as well as craft beer and non-alcoholic options.

The Studio is also a venue for local cheesemongers and beverage professionals to gather and deep dive into aspects of the industry they feel passionately about sharing with customers and each other.

Finally, being a part of a neighborhood community is very important to the concept. Creating a place for neighbors enjoy exceptional food and drinks with their friends and family is of the utmost importance. The team looks forward to being able to contribute in a positive way to the community.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
