“DC-Based, Woman-Owned Small Business to Occupy Former Bazaar Spices Storefront
The Neighborgoods will open the doors of its first retail store in the Atlantic Plumbing building in Washington DC’s Shaw neighborhood (2130 8th St NW) by the end of the month. The store will showcase the fun-loving, colorful brand’s locally made food-themed signature products such as dish towels, tote bags, greeting cards, magnets, baby onesies, and more.
In addition, they will carry a curated selection of home goods and gifts that are sure to bring smiles to your faces and brighten homes. The Neighborgoods will be a one-stop-shop to pick up witty and unique gifts for any and all occasions.
A grand opening party will be held at the store on Saturday, May 4 for community members, fellow DC makers, and friends. The doors will open at noon with local Compass coffee and Poppy’s bagel bites for afternoon shoppers, and then sips and sweets will be served from 5-8pm to celebrate.

I’m so happy to be able to provide a place where people can come and find that perfect gift for their pickle loving friend, or pick up something that will brighten their everyday.” said Jodi Kostelnik, owner and creator behind The Neighborgoods. “Having my own brick and mortar shop is a dream come true, and as a local maker being a part of the growing Shaw Atlantic Plumbing neighborhood is just icing on the cake. There is so much local excitement happening in the area you can make a whole day of fun coming to visit us.”
The Neighborgoods was born out of Kostelnik’s background as a graphic designer and illustrator, coupled with her love of creating unique gifts for friends and family. Her products are inspired by the beauty of food and how it brings people together – whether through sharing a bottle of wine, celebrating over a delicious cheese plate, or a mutual love of beets – and how gifts to remember those times can make even the every day memorable. All of The Neighborgoods’ products are designed and printed in the USA and will continue to be packaged and distributed in DC – now from their new DC Shaw storefront.
