That was fast – “thamee, a full-service anglo-burmese restaurant” coming soon to Sally’s Middle Name space on H Street

via Eventbrite’s Thamee Supper Club & Thingyan Celebration

Thanks to all who passed on word from Washingtonian:

“The team behind Burmese bodega Toli Moli has been using its tiny Union Market food hall stall to introduce DC to the wonders of falooda (a parfait-like dessert with basil seeds, ice cream, and flavored gelatin) and mohinga (catfish noodle curry). Now, they’re hoping to give Burmese cuisine an even bigger platform with a sit-down restaurant called Thamee, meaning “daughter.” It will replace Sally’s Middle Name, which closes on H Street Northeast on March 31.”

From Eventbrite:

“welcome to toli moli‘s newest sister restaurant, thamee!

in anticipation of the grand opening of thamee, a full-service anglo-burmese restaurant on h street northeast in washington, dc serving elevated presentations of street food and home-style meals from burma, we are pleased to welcome you into our new restaurant home for a series of pre-opening supper clubs.

meaning “daughter” in burmese, thamee will be the second culinary concept by the mother-daughter duo behind the critically acclaimed toli moli, jocelyn law-yone and simone jacobson, along with business partner eric wang, and their first opportunity to offer guests a sit-down dining experience featuring food from chef jocelyn’s home country. incorporating their shared passions for art, culture, hospitality, and intergenerational placemaking, the toli moli/thamee team will build upon their successes pioneering the next generation of burmese culinary traditions in our nation’s capital.

join us for a thingyan (burmese new year) celebration featuring an intimate, multi-course dinner and dessert prepared by chef jocelyn law-yone before thamee opens to the public.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
