Today’s Rental has “Friendly neighbors on a tree-lined street”

This rental is located at 16th and Monroe Street, NW. The Craigslist ad says:

“$3795 / 3br – 1800ft2 – Gorgeous 3BR house on the most beautiful +safest block in Columbia Hts

Beautiful 3-bathroom row house on what is honestly the best + friendliest street in Columbia Heights/Mt Pleasant, Monroe St. NW. The house is an urban oasis – it is quiet, spacious with high ceilings, and great for entertaining. It has beautiful exposed brick walls, a large master bedroom that gets tons of light, original hardwood floors, a finished basement, all new stainless steel appliances, a great kitchen with natural light, thoughtful mood lighting, brand new A/C and central radiator heating, a lovely backyard patio for BBQ’ing or having dinner outside, and a private parking spot for two cars in back.
Available April 1.

Super convenient location: you will be downtown at work in 20-30 minutes door to door using bus or metro. It’s 2 blocks from Target/Best Buy, Giant, and Columbia Heights Metro and 2 min walk to 16th street that has fast buses straight to downtown.

Friendly neighbors on a tree-lined street: The house is on a lovely tree-lined, quiet street that has a very neighborhood feel. The neighbors are fantastic – they do a block party in the summer and a progressive dinner in the winter (where different houses host dinner courses, and around 75 people go house-to-house on the block). I honestly think this is the best block in the neighborhood.

Great neighborhood restaurants and bars within a 5-minute walk. All of these are a short walk away:
• In Mt Pleasant you have Elle, which has been nationally reviewed; Beau Thai, probably the best Thai food in DC, Mola, great Spanish tapas.
• On 11th street you have Maple, a romantic wine bar and Italian food; Meridian Pint, a haven for craft beer lovers and good trivia nights, Red Rocks Pizza, some of DC’s best Neapolitan pizza, and Room 11, a very nice wine bar.
• On 14th street you have Little Havana, DC’s hottest new Cuban restaurant; Taqueria Habanero and Mezcaleria, competing for DC’s best tacos and margaritas, and Red Derby, a fun dive bar.

The house is roomy and gets a lot of light.

• Large master bedroom with walk-in closet and large bay window that lets in tons of light
• Beautiful original hardwood floors on 1st and 2nd floors, exposed brick walls, and historic moldings that give the house a modern yet historic feel
• Two other bedrooms upstairs that were recently redone and repainted. One has exposed brick.
• Recently renovated bathroom with a clawfoot bathtub and redone shower
• Downstairs is fantastic for entertaining. Large living room and dining room, separated by a foyer.
• Modern kitchen with brand new hardwood floors, beautiful granite countertops, backsplash, new stainless steel microwave and dishwasher, and gas stove and oven. Brand new excellent LG refrigerator.
• High quality Pella glass doors in front and back
• Private parking spot for 2 cars
• Brand new central A/C, and warm radiator heating
• Working wood fireplace for romantic evenings
• Nice patio for barbeques and outdoor brunches in back.
• Beautiful entrance hallway with hanging Edison bulbs
• Granite stone stairs and entrance
• New washer and dryer

Two blocks from nature: gigantic Rock Creek Park is on the other side — great for hikes, long, walks, and biking. 10 min walk to Meridian Hill/Malcolm X park for picnics. 10 min walk to bars/restaurants in Adams Morgan.

If you think this sounds like a good fit for you, email with a bit about yourself and the group that would move in. 1 month security deposit required. Thank you”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
