About the Massive Police Presence, Traffic and Street Closures You’re Going to ask about Tomorrow-Tuesday

A preemptive answer to why is there so much traffic and/or such a heavy police presence at the Convention Center.

From MPD:

“From Friday, March 22, 2019 through Tuesday, March 26, 2019, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures and parking restrictions the public and motorists should take into consideration.

The following streets will be CLOSED from 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019, to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 26, 2019:

• L Street, NW between 9th Street and 10th Street, NW

• L Street, NW between 7th Street and 9th Street, NW

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.

Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.”
