District Dogs Grand Opening Navy Yard Location Saturday

Thanks to Zach and District Dogs for sending. From a press release:

“Last August, District Dogs announced that it would open a second full-service pet care facility in the fast-growing Navy Yard area of Southeast DC. After over four years of providing dog walking services throughout Northwest DC and two years of offering daycare, boarding, and more at their Park View location, District Dogs will officially open for business at 1221 Van Street SE on Saturday, March 9th.

Owner Jacob Hensley and his team will host an open house at the Navy Yard location on Friday, March 8th (5 pm – 9 pm) with refreshments for two- and four-legged guests. Visitors will get the chance to tour the new facility which includes four play areas, private boarding suites, a full-service grooming salon, and a curated retail boutique.

District Dogs’ newest location was custom-built, with every detail carefully chosen to maximize fun and safety. Additional special features include:

• Four playrooms ensure safe play for dogs of all ages, sizes, and energy levels.
• 6 HVAC systems provide the ability to control temperature and air flow on a zone
basis–keeping the air clean and fresh and the dogs cool and comfortable.
• Dedicated water supply with industrial-grade drainage systems in each playroom allows
for easy deep cleaning and disinfecting.
• Protect-All Flooring offers premium underfoot comfort that is soft on joints while
providing superior traction for safe and fun playtime.
• FUNiture play structures keep dogs entertained and engaged for hours of play–and a
tired dog is a good dog!
District Dogs’ Navy Yard location brings their signature client-focused care to a new level by offering an expanded menu of services, including:
• Daycare;
• Overnight boarding;
• Grooming and salon services;
• Dog walking and pet sitting;

About District Dogs

District Dogs started as a dog walking business in 2014, with owner Jacob Hensley as the sole employee. Growing with each new client, within two years the business included a team of walkers that covered the majority of Northwest DC. District Dogs gained a reputation as the go- to pet care company for warm, thoughtful, and outstanding service.

Building on the popularity of their dog walking services, District Dogs has grown into a full- service pet care company. Hensley and his team serve their four-legged clients at two brick- and-mortar locations in DC’s Parkview and Navy Yard neighborhoods, offering daycare, overnight boarding, grooming, and a curated retail collection for dogs and dog-lovers alike.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
