From MPD:

“The First District is currently investigating an incident that took place in the area of the 700 block of 7th Street SE which took place this evening [Wednesday] between 6:00pm and 6:15pm. A victim, of what we believe to have been an assault, woke up on the ground and realized that her purse was missing. However, she is unable to remember what happened. Her property was later recovered a short distance away.

The case is being actively investigated by First District detectives. Should anyone have any information regarding the incident, please contact the First District Detectives office at (202) 299-2025, or the Metropolitan Police Department’s Command Information Center at (202) 727-9099.”

Another reader shares an incident on Wallach Place Tuesday night:

“Sharing the unfortunate news that a young woman was violently mugged by two assailants on our street this evening between 6:14-6:20pm in front of the 1300 block of Wallach Place.

A passerby disrupted the attack and the men fled. (I heard the woman scream and saw one man flee from my upstairs window.)

Luckily, the young woman came away unharmed though she was understandably shaken up. She said that one man tried to choke her while the other grabbed her bag. They were not successful in taking her possessions.

The police are interested in any residents who may have camera footage (Ring, Nest, etc.) of the assailants.

The time of the attack was between 6:14-6:20pm. However, our neighbor said that the assailants were following her eastward from Madewell before the attack.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
