Chaia Taco Opens Second Location Today

From a press release:

“Chaia Tacos opens the doors to its second location in Washington, DC’s Mount Vernon Triangle on January 8. What was started by Co-founders Bettina Stern and Suzanne Simon as a pop-up stand at local farmers’ markets grew to its first brick and mortar shop in Georgetown; Chaia Tacos now brings its insanely delicious tacos made entirely with seasonal vegetables, homemade salsas and handmade tortillas to a new neighborhood with an expanded menu and house-made cocktails on tap.

Menu highlights include taco favorites like Chaia’s Creamy Kale and Potato with pepperjack, poblano crema, salsa verde, and pickled onion and Braised Mushroom with feta, salsa roja and cilantro, as well as rotating seasonal tacos, such as Roasted Butternut Squash with goat cheese, caramelized onions, chipotle yogurt, and mint, and Citrus-Roasted Beet with ricotta salata, cilantro-lime yogurt and jalapeño.

The new “Beyond Tacos” section of the menu will include offerings like El Bol, which gives diners the opportunity to enjoy taco fillings over grains; Cauliflower Al Pastor with smoky greens, cilantro lime yogurt and beet-pickled egg; and crave-worthy “Sides” like Carrot-Kohlrabi Slaw with sweet and spicy vinaigrette, fresh jalapeños and herbs; and Winter White Soup with potato, fennel and chili oil. To finish, Chaia has partnered with DC-based partners to feature vegan and gluten-free sweets such as a Seven Spice Dark Chocolate Bar made with cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, pepper, allspice, clove and ginger.

For libations, Chaia will have craft beer, wine, and cocktails on tap such as the Milian Park with bourbon, amaro Montenegro, amargo de chile and bitters along with a winter special, the Apple Shrub Toddy made with hot whiskey, spiced apple shrub and lemon. Non-alcoholic beverages include house-made iced teas such as Green Tea with citrus, marigold and mint; Hot Spiced Café au Lait with oat milk, lavender, cinnamon and cardamom; coffee and nitro cold brew from Vigilante Coffee; Elderberry Kombucha from Wild Kombucha; and a variety of hot teas from Bellocq Tea Atelier.

The Mount Vernon Triangle location is a 2,000 square foot space with 38 seats. The bright, airy space was designed by DC-based Gensler Associates and includes design details such as white oak, handmade bar tiles, and cold-rolled steel. Anchoring the space is a large comal wherein Chaia’s tortillas are hand-pressed and cooked.

Chaia Tacos is located in Mount Vernon Triangle at 615 I Street NW and operates from 11am to 10pm, seven days a week.”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
