Whereas everyone loves a Brookland bungalow, barrel top townhomes, located in SW DC’s Charles Goodman-designed River Park Mutual Homes community, get mixed reviews in PoPville. It seems people either love them or hate them.

Goodman’s River Park Cooperative is one of the few enclaves in the District of truly historic Mid Century Modern design. Located on 11 acres near the SW Waterfront, the co-op includes a high rise of individual studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom units, and the surrounding townhomes, only a fraction of which are of the unique barrel top design.

The area surrounding River Park Mutual Homes has quite recently, like so much of this city, experienced significant change with the development of the Capitol Riverfront, the revitalized SW Waterfront, and the area at the SW Waterfront Metro, largely occupied by DC Government offices.

This change, not surprisingly, is reflected in housing prices.

In 2015, we looked at one that sold for $534,000. The previous sale of the current subject property is actually mentioned in that post.

A mere 5 years ago, we reviewed the sale of this (smaller and not barrel top) townhouse at $411,000.
