The Delegate Opens at 9th and L Street, NW

901 L Street, NW

From a press release:

The Delegate, created and managed by Thompson Hospitality, has officially joined Shaw’s exciting restaurant scene just steps away from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and downtown DC’s bustling business district. The 200-seat restaurant offers a new American menu with a modern twist–featuring exceptional entrees, a Chef’s Table weekend brunch buffet, weekday happy hour and private dining space, with convenient valet parking and more.

Connected to the dual-branded Courtyard and Residence Inn Washington Downtown/Convention Center by Marriott on the corner of 9th and L St., the restaurant is open weekdays for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, allowing diners to experience unique appetizers like black sesame ahi tuna or fried green tomatoes with Firefly goat cheese and jalapeno fig jam, or delicious handhelds including a namesake Delegate Burger. Entrées highlight the best of land and sea like beef short ribs with sweet potato puree and green beans, and wild salmon with succotash and crispy lemon pepper chives that are bound to make guests’ mouths water.

Rounding out every meal at The Delegate is a dessert menu including seasonal favorites for all to enjoy.

Those looking to live large on the weekend will love the restaurant’s robust Chef’s Table brunch menu. Guests will get their fill of classics like bacon & eggs, French toast and berries, and biscuits and gravy, as well as unique options such as warm skillet cinnamon buns, a carving station featuring Cajun turkey, beef brisket, and smoked pork belly with chipotle BBQ and a create your own omelet station. The Chef’s Table brunch will be offered from 10AM-3PM Saturday and Sunday.

Integral to the restaurant is a full-service 40-seat modern bar, offering local spirts and brews, a 50 bottle wine list, and creative twists on classic cocktails. The bar also features a robust weekday happy hour from 3PM-7PM promoting specially priced domestic beers, wine, and bar bites. Exposed brick, a three-inch-thick glass countertop, and a dynamic abstract sculpture overhead truly enhance its overall ambiance. Washingtonians looking to gather for a round of drinks before or after events in the thriving Shaw-Convention Center neighborhood won’t have to look further than The Delegate. Guests can also enjoy their cocktails on the forthcoming rooftop lounge open April through October, Wednesdays through Fridays.

President and Chairman of Thompson Hospitality Warren Thompson, says of the new concept, “The Delegate looks forward to being Shaw’s new favorite neighborhood restaurant and bar, for visitors and locals alike. Whether heading over from the Convention Center, grabbing a drink before a nearby show, attending an event at the Capital One Arena or looking for a hearty meal after walking the Mall, our menus have something for everyone.”

Although The Delegate has just debuted, patrons will recognize a sense of familiarity within. Diners will be greeted by the vintage façade, preserved to honor the original architecture and used as inspiration for the restaurant’s brick interior. Other thoughtful design notes include cozy window box seating with natural light and views of historic 9th Street.”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
