From Deputy Mayor Donahue:

“The official schedule of events for the state funeral of former President George H.W. Bush has been released.

Federal agencies will be CLOSED Wednesday and residents should expect many closed streets downtown that day.”

Ed. Note: One Fed writes me, “Would be interested to know more about this–haven’t heard anything official from work.” Have any Feds out there gotten official notice from their office?

Folks on twitter are keen to learn if D.C. government will follow suit: “I don’t understand why you wait until the last minute to announce any closings. The Federal Government does it the correct way. There are folks with kids, etc who need to plan. I wish you guys were more considerate.”

From AlertDC:

“The United States Capitol Police (USCP) reports the following street closures are in effect until 11:59pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, for former President George H.W. Bush State Funeral:

– East Capitol Street NE/SE, from Second Street, NE/SE to First Street, NE/SE
– First Street NE/SE, from Constitution Avenue, NE to Independence Avenue, SE”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
