Community Interfaith Service and Solidarity Gathering for Tree of Life Synagogue Tonight in Cleveland Park

“Join us for an interfaith service and solidarity gathering (Adas Israel Congregation
2850 Quebec St. NW) as we come together to mourn the 11 innocent lives lost, express our outrage and concern, and join in prayer as a community for the speedy recovery of those injured. Hear from community leaders including Washington, DC’s Mayor Muriel Bowser, Governor of Virginia Ralph Northam, and Governor of Maryland Larry Hogan.

We are horrified and heartbroken by the despicable murderous attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood that took place during Shabbat services. Words are insufficient to convey our community’s profound pain at the slaughter of innocent people who were worshiping with their community on the holy day of Shabbat, a time that is a weekly reminder to celebrate joy and peace.”

“In light of the despicable murderous attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington (JCRC) are planning a community-wide interfaith service and solidarity gathering with the ADL Washington, AJC Washington, Israeli Embassy, and various other interfaith organizations on Monday, October 29th at 6:30pm at Adas Israel Congregation. More details below.

Plus: To meet the immediate security concerns in our community, The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and its donors have committed a minimum of $100,000 towards emergency grants to synagogues and other Jewish organizations that are struggling to afford security. Donations to support this effort may be made to Federation’s Communal Security Fund to ensure that every community member feels safe in their places of gathering and worship. 100% of your gift go towards meeting the immediate security needs of the synagogues and organizations serving our local community.

Who: The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington (JCRC) and various other Jewish organizations and interfaith partners invite the community. This is a public event open to all. RSVP is requested.
