The 5pm Post – Hill and Go Seek Scavanger Bike Race Aug. 28th

From an email:

“The basic gist is that it’s like Amazing Race on bikes, all over the Hill – starting at the North Eastern Market Metro Plaza and winding up at a cool party at the H Street Country Club. The fun gets started at 5pm on August 28.

This is a cool event for a great cause – the Ready, Willing and Working program – hope to see you there!”

Full press release after the jump.

Whether you are a bicycle enthusiast or just like a good competition, Hill and Go
Seek is for you. For a $20 entry fee, teams of two are invited to participate in this scavenger hunt
style bicycle race for the thrill of victory and some amazing prizes.

Hill and Go Seek will put the riders to the test – creatively and physically. Starting at 5 pm, teams will be
given a list of ten points of interest throughout Capitol Hill. From Barracks Row to RFK Stadium, Eastern
Market to the H Street Corridor – it is up to the riders to choose the best route between stops.

Points will be awarded for: completion speed; checkpoints completed; tasks completed; as well as other
point-earning categories like creativity and participation using correct safety gear. Winners will be
determined by greatest number of overall points, and will be announced at an after party hosted by the H
Street Country Club.

Pre-registration is highly recommended and available online at www.hillandgoseek.eventbrite.com or at
Capitol Hill Bikes (cash or check only) located at 719 8th Street SE.

Hill and Go Seek is produced by the Capitol Hill Business Improvement District and CHAMPS – Capitol
Hill’s Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by Capitol Hill Bikes, The Office of Tommy Wells, DDOT’s
Capital Bikeshare and the Washington Area Bicycle Association (WABA).

Proceeds from Hill and Go Seek will benefit Ready, Willing & Working a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization
that empowers men to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency and criminal recidivism
through a residential, paid-work rehabilitation program offering holistic programs and supportive services
that allow individuals to achieve permanent self-sufficiency.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
