“October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During this month, local organizations join together to promote greater public awareness about domestic violence. This month provides an excellent opportunity for the District to demonstrate its support in ending domestic violence. Moreover, it is a wonderful opportunity to educate the public on the seriousness of domestic violence and the prevalence of this epidemic in our lives. The Coalition has compiled a calendar of events and we hope that you or colleagues can attend an event or two this month to learn more about the domestic violence advocacy community. You can find all of the events and additional resources at www.spreadlovedc.
Here at the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence we are committed to redoubling our efforts to educate communities and systems about the impact of domestic violence. As the umbrella organization for the dedicated domestic violence service organizations in the District, we’re happy to offer our expertise to you and your colleagues if you have questions or are in need of resources in the course of covering a story. You can learn more about the Coalition and our member programs at www.dccadv.org.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
