“Introducing New Columbia Swing, DC’s newest swing dance organization!”

Thanks to Jes for sending:

“Introducing New Columbia Swing, DC’s newest swing dance organization! We’re proud to provide high-quality Lindy Hop classes and jazz music to spread the joy and history of swing dancing throughout DC and the region.

Check Out our upcoming Preview night on October 2nd! It’s the first of our weekly dances at the gorgeous Josephine Butler Parks Center, and for a limited time admission is pay-what-you-want.

October 2nd Schedule:

8:00-9:00pm — Class time

Beginner Drop In
New Columbia Swing’s weekly drop-in lesson will get you ready to enjoy dancing all night at our Social. We’ll introduce you to the basics of Lindy Hop, an improvisational social dance invented in Harlem to the swinging jazz of the 1930s and 1940s. No experience or partner required, and your first class is free!

Fun and Fancy Moves–All levels
Add flair to your swing dancing with some fancy partnered moves and individual stylings. This class requires familiarity with six-count footwork, including triple steps, and basic understanding of leading and following.

Open practice/feedback room
During the class hour, this open room will have instructors available to answer questions and give personalized dance feedback. It’s ideal for both experienced and newer dancers looking for technique tune-ups, refreshing inspirations, and finally figuring out that one move you just can’t do on the social floor. You’re also welcome to simply use the space for practice and dancing with friends.

9:00-11:30pm — The Social

Stick around after the classes to dance to our incredible DJs. Jerry Almonte and Mike Marcotte will split the set with tunes sure to keep your feet moving all night.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
