“On Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 12:12 am, 5D members responded to the 1500 block of Benning Road NE to investigate sounds of gunshots.

Upon arriving at the location, an adult male victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the body. The officers attempted to render first aid, however, the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

This case is being investigated by MPD’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone who may have information pertaining to this investigation is asked to call 202-727-9099 or may send a text message to 50411.”

“On 9/29/18 at approximately 9:55pm, officers from the First District responded to the 1300 block of Emerald St NE for a report of a carjacking.

The adult victim told the officers that he was unloading his vehicle when he was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects acted as a lookout, while the other demanded the victim’s car keys and vehicle. The primary suspect grabbed his waistband and made threats implying that he had a firearm, although no weapon was actually observed. The suspects obtained the victim’s vehicle [a green 2017 Toyota Highlander with DC tags] and drove off on Emerald St NE. Suspect #1 is described as a black male, 20-25 y/o, 5’10-6′, thin build, wearing a black zip-up hoodie with white strings. Suspect #2 is described as a black male, 20-25 y/o, gray hoodie, white high-top sneakers. The victim was not harmed during the offense.

“On Friday, September 28, 2018, at approximately 10:20pm, MPD responded to multiple calls for the sounds of gunshots in the area of the 500-600 blocks of Tuckerman and Underwood Streets, N.W., as well as in the 600-700 blocks of Rittenhouse Street, NW. While canvassing the area and interviewing witnesses, (4) shell casings were located by officers in the 500 block of Underwood St NW.

There were no reported injuries or property damage however, a vehicle that was possibly seen in the area was described as a black sedan.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating this event and requests that anyone with information about this or any other crime call (202) 727-9099.

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
