“I heard the collision and saw the guy fall and the car speed away”

A reader reports around 7:45am:

“Apparent hit and run at 12th & Constitution- I just saw a man on a bike apparently get hit by a car that then drove away without stopping. (I say “apparently” because I did not actually see the crash – I was stopped at the light coming off the 12th St Expressway and happened to be looking down at the second of the impact – but I heard the collision and saw the guy fall and the car speed away.)

Within seconds a cop appeared, so I am really hopeful he saw the car involved. The cyclist was motionless on the ground. Several people jumped out of their cars to assist the cop, and I called for an ambulance and to describe the car involved (although I’m sure the cop beat me to it).

This was incredibly distressing to see and I know I won’t be able to get this out of my head all day. If anyone finds out any more information about this as the day goes on, please let us know. I hope the poor guy is OK.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
