District Dogs, “dog walking, daycare, and boarding” coming to Navy Yard

3210 Georgia Ave, NW

From District Dogs:

District Dogs, a locally-owned pet care company founded in 2014, is heading south… Southeast, that is. Owner Jacob Hensley and his energetic team of dog walkers and daycare attendants are expanding their reach to the thriving Navy Yard neighborhood. [1221 Van Street SE]

With over four years of doing a brisk dog-walking business and almost two years of providing daycare and boarding services at their Park View location, the move marks District Dogs’ first foray outside of Northwest DC.

Explaining the appeal of their new neighborhood, Hensley says, “I love the Navy Yard area. From Nats Park to the emerging dining scene, it’s a neighborhood with lots of energy and potential. Our entire team is excited to bring our top-shelf service to a new community of dog lovers.”

The expansion is already under way, with dog walking service available immediately for customers in the neighborhood. Later this year, the company will open a second brick- and-mortar location in Navy Yard that will provide daycare and overnight boarding–as well as a curated retail shop.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
