Thanks to all who messaged me about the Kathy Griffin event tonight:

From a press release:

“Two-time Emmy and Grammy Award winning comedian and New York Times bestselling author Kathy Griffin, who is currently on tour and will be performing later this week at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., will be the featured speaker on Day 53 of the ongoing #KremlinAnnex protest in front of the White House on Thursday, September 6th, starting at 7:00 PM. Local comedic talents Brittany Carney, Pearl Rose, and Denise Taylor will also perform.

The grassroots #KremlinAnnex protests were sparked on Twitter on Monday, July 16th as Americans shared their shock and anger over the events in Helsinki, where Trump held a secretive, closed door meeting with Vladimir Putin and a joint press conference during which he took aim at the media, F.B.I., U.S. Intelligence Community, and his political opponents. Over a thousand activists showed up in front of the White House to protest the next evening as Trump arrived back from Helsinki, and the nightly demonstrations have continued ever since, combining art and music with political advocacy.

Some notable speakers from previous #KremlinAnnex protests include attorney Michael Avenatti; actress and activist Alyssa Milano; comedian and performer Rosie O’Donnell who was joined by dozens of Broadway performers; activist Patricia Okoumou ( known as “Lady Liberty”); environmental activist and teacher Kristin Mink; the mother of imprisoned whistle blower Reality Winner, Billie Davis-Winner; as well as other activists and more than a dozen U.S. Senators and Representatives.

Protests at the #KremlinAnnex have been peaceful and fun, and have been highlighted in the Washington Post, New York Times, The Hill, CNN, MSNBC, People Magazine, and other media outlets. Every night, the crowd also raises their voice in unison to thank the Secret Service and Park Police for protecting their right to free speech and free assembly.

When: Thursday, September 6th at 7:00 PM (Night 53)

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
