27th and Final Set of Entries for the 2010 Coolest Pet in PoPville Contest

Ed. Note: The deadline has passed for entries, we got over 300! If you missed the deadline, save your shots for next year, sorry no exceptions. Remember if you have a favorite please let me know. Though, don’t make up names and “vote” for your pet multiple times. If you do so, and I catch you, (which is not hard to catch) your pet will be disqualified. Stay tuned for semi final rounds coming soon.

Durga

“This is Durga. We rescued her from a high-kill shelter in South Carolina through Lucky Dog Rescue. She has an unmatched sense of adventure – and energy level! Her hobbies include devouring chew toys and rawhide bones, and terrorizing squirrels throughout the U Street neighborhood. Her dream job – rat exterminator.”

Stinky

“This is Stinky. He has traveled on three continents, and is very happy to be settled now in Petworth. His primary responsibility is keeping an eye on the dog. He takes this duty very very seriously. It’s not all work though – he always takes time to stop and smell (and sometimes eat) the roses.”

Violet

“Violet was adopted from WARL a year ago and loves snow, playing fetch and eating sticks.”

Lots more great entries after the jump.

Sombra

Lil Andy Warhol

“This is Lil Andy Warhol (or Andy for short). We think he’s a poodle mix (maybe maltipoo), and he was adopted at the Humane Society’s New York Avenue Shelter. He loves people and wants everyone we see to pet him! Lil Andy Warhol’s most famous quote is, “In the future every poodle will be famous for 15 minutes.”

Midori

“Here is my AWESOME cat Midori! I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love her–cat haters included! Cuddliest kitty ever! (And she’s the size of a large kitten even though she’s full size!”

Jetta

“We adopted Jetta from the Washington Animal Rescue League. She’s 10 months old.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
