“Dear PoPville,

Hoping to crowd source a reliable, reasonably priced HVAC specialist. Long story short- I installed a NEST E thermostat in my condo unit last week- it worked perfectly, then a week later an error message appeared on the face and no AC was flowing.

I tried to troubleshoot with NEST and re-wire, still nothing. I attempted to put my prior AC faceplate back on, when I connected it, the AC flickered on for a few minutes then the entire system powered off. My building isn’t even 3 years old yet- the HVAC unit itself is ~2 years old. Surprise of surprises my AC has zonked out during some pretty hot days and I need to get it evaluated. I called a few places and they want $110 just to inspect what’s going on – thats fine if thats the going rate, I just don’t know if it is. Does anyone have an HVAC professional or company that they use? Anyone with a similar situation? I suspect I’ve tripped a wire or blown a fuse but I just don’t know. FWIT I’m in SW Columbia Heights/Northern Petworth and happy to use someone local.”
