I’d like to take the opportunity to announce the formation of the Friends of the White Whale Society (FOTWWS). It took a while navigating the nonprofit bureaucracy but we are now official. Basically we take a lot of photos of white squirrels and other urban wildlife exotica. Join us!!
OK, the White Whale(s) is no stranger to the pages of PoPville but there has been an explosion of sightings this summer. I am grateful to all who sent in samples. Without further ado, I give you, not including the ones we’ve already posted this summer, the White Whale, summer 2018:
Dan sends from Dupont
Christina sends from the National Gallery of Art
Maxine sends from Mass. Ave
Uriah sends from Lanier Heights
Holly sends from Franklin Square
Lisa sends from 20th and Mass.
Erica sends from Franklin Sauare
Michael also sends from Franklin Square
Lizzie sends from Dupont Circle
Hannah sends from Franklin Square
And finally Caitlin sends from NGA
If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife around town, lunching or otherwise, and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted it to [email protected] and I’ll add it to the queue. Friends of the White Whale Society is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.
You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.
It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
