Duffy’s Confirms Moving to H Street, NE after closing Shaw spot near 9:30 Club in September

1016 H Street, NE

Ed. Note: Long loved Liberty Tree closed on H Street, NE back in October 2017.

On July 30th we wrote Duffy’s Moving to H Street, NE!!?! Maybe? Well, no maybes about it anymore. Duffy’s writes on their Facebook page:

“Duffy’s Irish Pub is Moving!

After over 12 years of serving the neighborhood, Duffy’s will be moving to a new location. As many have already heard, our current building is slated for new development, and we are locking the doors and drinking all the whiskey some time in Sep 2018. [Ed. Note: DCist reports that the last day for the old spot will be September 15.]

Our new address will be 1016 H St., NE, and we look forward to serving you there.

We invite you to follow us on social media (facebook.com/duffysirishpub) for further updates.

The good news is we will have football on and serving wings right up until the end, but this is your last chance to stop by Duffy’s and soak up the history and the memories in the walls, and nothing would make us happier than to provide some final lasting memories of our Vermont Ave home.

We love U Street and the Shaw Neighborhood sooo much and can’t thank you enough for your patronage. If you are betting on us returning to U Street someday, that might be a good bet. Until then, our new location will have plenty of TVs, the same wings (and an expanded menu) and has a fantastic patio space; we think people will enjoy the small changes there while still providing the friendly, neighborhood pub atmosphere you all have come to enjoy.

We thank each and every one of you for your support for the past dozen years, so please stop by soon and give us an Irish goodbye.

New address:
1016 H St., NE”

current Duffy’s location at 2106 Vermont Ave, NW

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
