“Protest Against Family Separation TOMORROW June 21st at the Capitol!!”

via Eventbrite

Ed. Note: Saturday is Family Separation Protest at the White House.

From Eventbrite:

“Thu, June 21, 2018
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
U.S. Capitol
1st street and East Capitol
House East Front Grassy Egg

Protest to send a message that American Families support family values, value the family and oppose any policy or party that seeks to separate children from their parents at the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Massachusetts Rep. Joe Kennedy III and Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin are among those scheduled to address the gathering.

Other legislator and law enforcement officials have been invited to address the group as well on the topic of creating a legal and political framework that respects the dignity of immigrants and refugees and supports the structure of the family, which has been central to the historic success of our country.

June 21st is the first official day of summer, a season when families spend time together and build their most treasured memories. Please take an hour to stand up for families everywhere and let the Trump Administration know Americans value the family. Bring your kids.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
