Awesome or Awful? Everything Bagel Ice Cream?!?

Courtesy Ice Cream Jubilee

From a press release:

“Ice Cream Jubilee is excited to offer a sneak peek of our adventurous new flavors for summer. Ice Cream Jubilee serves super-premium ice cream made from all natural, 18% butterfat cream from grass-fed cows at South Mountain Creamery. Each flavor is made by hand in small batches in northeast Washington, DC, inspired by international flavors, boozy cocktails, and childhood treats.

The following flavors will be available to the public in a sneak peek tasting flight at both locations on June 16-June 19. Tickets are available here for $16, which includes a flight of seven new flavors and a pint or regular scoop to take home.

Everything Bagel – You’ll be surprised how much you like this unique flavor! Our original coriander ice cream is sprinkled with sesame and poppy seeds to create a one-of-a kind herbaceous flavor.

Blueberry Pie

– We add freshly baked butter pie crust pieces to this berry-rich, bright purple ice cream flavor. Blueberry Pie is one of Ice Cream Jubilee’s original crowd pleasers: it was one of the winners of the 2013 Best Ice Cream in DC competition, which spurred Ice Cream Jubilee founder Victoria Lai to quit her government attorney job and become an icecreampreneur!

Basil Goat Cheese – We proudly use bushels of basil from Up Top Acres to make this vibrant, savory ice cream that celebrates summer’s bounty. Each leaf is grown on rooftops in Washington, DC, just blocks from our stores, and we mix in creamy, salty chunks of goat cheese.

Gin & Tonic Sorbet – This vegan, non-dairy sorbet is as refreshing as jumping into a gin-filled swimming pool. It bursts with tart lime zest and sweet tonic flavor. A splash of real gin adds a hint of juniper berry and just the pick-me-up you need on a hot summer day.

Ice Cream Jubilee is also thrilled to present three pop-up ice cream flavors inspired by the Mediterranean flavors of local fast-casual chain Cava. These flavors will be available at Ice Cream Jubilee in stores from June 11- June 15 and at the tasting events only.

Sesame Halva (vegan) – Deeply rich sesame tahini and sweet coconut cream highlight the best of classic Mediterranean desserts. A sprinkle of black sesame seeds add an inviting crunch.

Spicy Green Harissa – Made with fragrant cilantro and spicy jalapeno, this flavor will make you rethink everything you believed about ice cream! Life is short, give it a try!

Sweet Red Pepper – Roasted red peppers tint this ice cream flavor with a delicate rose color and an unmistakable, surprisingly delicious pairing of peppers and sweet cream.

We’re not just weird flavors: Here’s our full list of summer flavors.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
