After 9 Years “Zentan Closing June 30, New Restaurant Coming Winter 2018”

1155 14th Street, NW

From a press release:

“Zentan, a contemporary Japanese restaurant located on Thomas Circle and adjacent to the Kimpton Donovan Hotel, will permanently close its doors on Saturday, June 30 to undergo a reconcept to open as a new restaurant from Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. While details for the forthcoming restaurant are still being finalized, it is expected to open in winter 2018.

Zentan opened in 2009 and was the only restaurant in Washington, D.C. to feature the Japanese tradition of Kuidaore or “spoil oneself with food.” Zentan’s guests enjoyed the Japanese custom of Chotto Ippai, which translates to “let’s have a quick drink.” Chotto Ippai was traditionally a way for friends and coworkers to relax over drinks and small bites while having light-hearted conversations after the work day. Guests may visit the restaurant throughout the month of June and enjoy their favorite Zentan dish, celebrating its final days. The last service will be dinner service on Saturday, June 30.

“Zentan has loved being a part of the community for nearly 10 years,” said Brian Crawford, Food & Beverage Director for the Kimpton Donovan Hotel. “We are eternally grateful for the loyal guests who have dined with us, and look forward to warmly introducing everyone to our new restaurant this winter.”

DNV Rooftop, the bar located on the top floor of the Kimpton Donovan Hotel, is open for the 2018 spring season and will continue to be open throughout the summer. The rooftop bar launched an all-new cocktail menu and brunch menu at the beginning of May. Guests can enjoy live DJ music, weekend brunch al fresco, and sweeping views of Washington, D.C.”
