Spots Available: “Camp Kesem provides a free, week-long summer camp for kids who have lost a parent to cancer, have a parent undergoing cancer treatment, or whose parent is a cancer survivor.”

“Dear PoPville,

I am also a volunteer for an organization called Camp Kesem. Camp Kesem provides a free, week-long summer camp for kids who have lost a parent to cancer, have a parent undergoing cancer treatment, or whose parent is a cancer survivor. There are currently four Camp Kesem chapters in the DC area, based out of George Mason University, the George Washington UniversityHoward University, and the University of Maryland.

I am writing because there are still quite a few spots available for camp this summer. Each of the camps will be held for one week this August, and transportation to the camp will be provided from a central DC location.

I’d love to get this information out to the DC community.

Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. We are the largest national organization dedicated to this unique population – supporting children with innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community. Kesem provides training, support and leadership development to more than 4,500 passionate college student leaders from coast-to-coast who volunteer year-round to create, manage and run Camp Kesem’s life-changing programs in their communities. There are currently four Camp Kesem chapters in the DC area, based out of George Mason University, the George Washington UniversityHoward University, and the University of Maryland. Each chapter will host a FREE week of camp this summer in August and there are still spots open!
