Saint-Ex Celebrates 15 Years on 14th Street NW with a Big Birthday BBQ Blowout on Sunday, May 13th

14th and T Street, NW

From an email:

“In 2003, the 14th Street Corridor was far from the bustling culinary destination it is today. Cafe Saint-Ex has been a steady cornerstone in the neighborhood for the past 15 years, and they’re celebrating this milestone with a Big Birthday BBQ Blowout on Sunday, May 13th from 4pm til close. From 4 – 9pm, guests can purchase a $15 food wristband for all you can eat food from the grill on the patio, as well as a $15 wristband good for unlimited pours of select Brooklyn Beer and Sam Adams beers (while supplies last). Both wristbands come with a raffle ticket for the chance to win fun prizes. Gate 54 will host a rousing round of karaoke from 7:30 til around 10pm when a DJ takes over the decks to dance our way til closing time.

The Birthday BBQ Blowout kicks off a series of monthly Patio Sessions at Saint-Ex. Future dates include:

June 17 – Father’s Day BBQ with DC Brau
July 22 – Featuring Altos Tequila
August 26 – A Dog Day Afternoon celebrating National Dog Day featuring Dogfish Head (four-legged friends welcome!)
September 30 – Annual 14th Street Burger Bash

On Sundays when there is no official “patio session,” guests will enjoy Bucket Sundays with specials on beer buckets and buckets of fried chicken.

Saint-Ex is also excited to announce the start of its weekly Monday Night Yappy Hours on the Patio. Starting Monday, May 14th, bring your dog with you for drinks and/or dinner and enjoy happy hour specials all night long.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
