The market takes place from 3-7pm every Friday and is located on 9th St, NW between Georgia Ave and Upshur.

From an Email:

“As a special treat to help folks cool down, we are also welcoming the Sweetflow Mobile from 5 PM to 7 PM. The Sweetflow Mobile is an environmentally-conscious frozen yogurt truck from Sweetgreen. It is uniquely engineered to run without a generator, thus significantly reducing the amount of fuel consumed. Just like their stores, Sweetflow Mobile uses 100% compostable packaging and local/organic ingredients & toppings.”

Email continues with full list of participants and a recipe after the jump.

Try out this delicious recipe that takes advantage of the fresh corn that is starting to come to market!

Grilled Corn Mexican Style
(Mark Bittman, The Minimalist, New York Times, July 28, 2010)
Time about 20 minutes

Ingredients
4 ears of corn, husked
2 tablespoons mayo
1-2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon chili powder, or to taste
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

1. Prepare a grill, with heat medium-high and rack about 4 inches from the fire. Put corn on grill and cook until kernels begin to char, about 5 minutes, then turn. Continue cooking and turning until all sides are slightly blackened.

2. Mix together mayo, lime juice, chili powder and some and pepper in small bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more lime juice or chili powder if you like. Serve corn with chili-lime mayo.”

Yield: 4 servings.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
