“Multi-purpose concert venue, urban winery, restaurant and special event space City Winery Washington D.C. (1350 Okie Street NE) announced today its initial artist lineup, ahead of opening a sprawling 40,000-square foot space in Ivy City this spring. An impressive roster of renowned national and internationally touring performers will keep guests entertained year-round in City Winery’s state-of-the-art 300-seat concert space. Occupying the second of four floors, concertgoers will enjoy a space that combines the rustic appeal of wine country with modern amenities, including a cutting-edge Meyer Sound System! Look for regular updates to a schedule of 300+ shows a year, showcasing an eclectic variety of musical genres.
The lineup kicks off with spring performances by Suzanne Vega, Bob Schneider, Patty Smyth and Scandal, and comedians Heather McDonald and Sandra Bernhard to name a few… Already announced, City Winery welcomes Joan Armatrading, Paula Cole, Eric Roberson, Jump, Little Children and Aztec Two Step this summer. General sales open to the public at 3PM EST on Thursday, March 15th.
City Winery Founder & CEO Michael Dorf is quoted saying “Music is essential to the City Winery experience. We are adding new, world class artists to the lineup all the time and City Winery will fill a gap in DC’s music scene, offering something totally unique.”
City Winery Washington D.C. Program Director John O’Neill plans to highlight artists with enthusiastic local followings. O’Neill emphasizes “City Winery will feature nationally and internationally acclaimed talent performing a variety of musical styles, and many of these acts have already found a home at other City Winery locations in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville and Boston.” He added “We will foster and cultivate the rich musical and artistic heritage of Washington DC by welcoming local talent. The venue will feature a range of room capacities, which allows City Winery to support and develop artists in an intimate environment, as well being an ever-present home to high profile underplays including past entertainment from an array of talent such as Prince, Greg Allman of Allman Brothers Band, Neil Young, Jerry Seinfeld, Eric Church, and Emmylou Harris.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
