When they said wind was coming they weren’t kidding.

Update for D.C. workers:

“The DC Government is offering unscheduled leave today in light of the wind storm. All essential employees must report to work.”

“All DC Public School Parent & Teacher Conferences scheduled for today are canceled.”

From Alert DC:

“United States Office of Personnel Management reports federal offices in the Washington, DC area are CLOSED. Emergency and telework-ready employees required to work must follow their agency’s policies, including written telework agreements.”

“The D.C. Government will open on-time today Friday, March 2, 2018.”

“Pepco reports scattered power outages in the area of New Hampshire Ave. and Crittenden St. NW. Currently 2,286 customers are affected. If affected or for more information, contact Pepco at 1-877-737-2662.”

“Pepco reports a power outage in the Marshall Heights Neighborhood. Currently 6,546 customers are without power. For more information, please contact Pepco at 1-877-737-2662.”

“Pepco reports a power outage in the Barry Farm Neighborhood. Currently 1,097 customers are affected. For more information, contact Pepco at 1-877-737-2662.”

“Maryland Transit Administration reports that MARC Train Service has been canceled due to downed trees and signal issues.”

Virginia Railway Express Service is canceled today 3-2-18 out of an abundance of caution due to the severe winds, and based on feedback from host railroads. Regular service will resume on Monday, March 5, 2018.”

“Wind update (5:50 a.m.)
• Metrorail operating every 12 min/line with reduced speeds above ground for safety
• Metrobus & MetroAccess operating; delays possible due to downed trees
• Please travel only if necessary
• Metro offices closed, essential personnel must report”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
