From a press release:

Proceeds will provide financial assistance to the victims and families of their alma mater.

Since the tragedy, over 11,000 MSD alumni nationwide have come together to create the Mobilizing MSD Alumni group. The DC area group is one of 16 local chapters throughout the country that are planning fundraisers, vigils, rallies and calls to action. There are dozens of MSD DC alumni and this is just the start of their work, there will be more activities in the near future.

Mobilizing MSD Alumni is a group of more than 11,000 alumni who have come together to support the students and Parkland community, and to advocate for change. The graduates of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are leaders in our communities with diverse resources and skills. We have already begun amazing initiatives nationally and regionally, including fundraising, raising awareness and advocating for legislative changes – and there are many more to come. The Eagle Nation is here and strong, and we stand together. Our hope is that the voices of thousands of our alumni will join and amplify the already loud cry for change by the students. This is just the beginning.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
