UPDATE: Milk Bar Opening at The Wharf Delayed – Logan Circle Location Opening “Later this year”

49 District Square, SW

“Very Soon” indeed!! From a press release:

“Milk Bar, the award-winning bakery and dessert brand founded by two-time James Beard Award-winning pastry chef and CEO Christina Tosi, announces its second location in Washington, D.C. will open at 12 p.m. ET on Friday, February 23 at The Wharf.

On opening day, Tosi will be on site from 12 to 2 p.m to welcome the neighborhood into the newest Milk Bar store. The store will offer $1 soft serve all day on Friday, including its iconic cereal milk® and chocolate pretzel flavors. In addition, the first 100 guests will receive birthday cake truffles on the house.

The new 721 square-foot store is located in the heart of The Wharf, D.C.’s new waterfront neighborhood, just off of Maine and 9th, at 49 District Square SW. Milk Bar Wharf is located across the square from Politics and Prose and right next to Mike Isabella’s Requin, just steps away from the District Square parking garage. The store will offer a full menu complete with Milk Bar’s beloved naked cakes, cookies, cake truffles, pies, soft serve, shakes, savory breads, coffee and more. It will be Milk Bar’s second bakery in Washington, D.C., complementing the CityCenterDC storefront, which opened in October 2015.

“I grew up just a few miles outside of D.C. in Virginia and my family is still here, so the DMV is a second home for me. I could not be more proud and excited to extend the company’s roots in this region.” said Tosi. “Just as Milk Bar has grown over the past 10 years, D.C. has been transformed as well with new neighborhoods like The Wharf, so it was a no-brainer for us to open up our second shop in such a cool new space along the Potomac.”

Later this year, Milk Bar will open its third location in D.C. in Logan Circle, right at the corner of 15th Street and Church Street NW. Located at 1525 15th St. NW, the 2,382 square-foot bakery will be the largest Milk Bar bakery to-date, serving as the bakery’s flagship location in the region. Housed in a former auto-mechanic shop, the Logan Circle outpost will feature Milk Bar’s first baking classroom in D.C. and second nationwide, and it will be the first shop with seating for guests to dine in-store and in an outdoor courtyard.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
