Grady’s is Opening Next Week! Repeat Grady’s is Opening Next Week! Have a Look Inside

2210 14th Street, NW between W and Florida Ave

Grady’s is finally here!! All the details from the owners:

“Grady’s is a comfortable and inviting spot with excellent food that we’ve created for our neighbors.

The neighborhood around 14th and Florida has grown rapidly over the last 5 years. The goal of Grady’s is to provide a warm, friendly and comfortable neighborhood restaurant for our local residents that may not be interested in the frenzy or trendiness that much of 14th St. has to offer. For Grady’s, the Chef is designing approachable seasonal menus featuring local ingredients with a focus on steaks and wild game meats.

The downstairs bar itself is originally from a ghost town in Nevada and was painstakingly moved here piece by piece. The upstairs bar is a laid back scene with darts and tables that are ideal for poker, if that kind of thing should ever break out. The Bar program features old and new. Mostly local craft beers are on tap and in bottle/can but customers will find familiar brands too (for instance Budweiser is on tap) New and classic cocktails feature many of the ingredients that would have been found behind the bar when it was first built.

Grady’s is owned by Greg Grammen (owner of Federal and Palace 5), Mark Harris and John Jarecki (former NRG manager, co-owner of The Light Horse and Red’s Table). Like I said, we’re pretty boring but we’re local and have heard what the neighbors have had to say about what they want.

However, we’re very lucky to have Michael Hartzer as our Executive Chef. Chef Hartzer was formerly the Executive Chef at Citronelle, he also opened both Ray’s the Classics and Jack Rose. Sous Chef Anthony Ramos was with me the last 2.5 years at Red’s Table.

Front of house is directed by Rick Kloer. He brings a long career of experience with him from places such as New Mexico and Boston.

The Bar Manager is Matthew Wilcox, he was at Nage, Tallula, Mintwood Place and some neighbors might recognize him most recently from Le Diplomate.

I’m sure many of the neighbors wondered what was taking so long. Other than typical renovation holdups, the building we are in needed a greater power supply to operate a full service restaurant. This is the case with many old buildings in DC, modern life demands more energy than these old buildings can supply. Combined with the massive amounts of new construction in the District, the wait times are extremely long to get more power service added. But that is now the past, we’re wrapping up opening training and are currently holding mock services. Grady’s will be open to the public by mid-week next week. We greatly appreciate the interest and patience our neighbors have given us and we are confident they will find Grady’s well worth the wait.

Many more of my photos after the jump.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
