“Our Hearts Are Broken”. Wagtime Owner Lisa Schreiber Passed Away

Update:

“Please join us Monday 1/22 at 8pm at Wagtime (North West location) for a candlelight vigil celebrating the life and accomplishments of Lisa Schreiber. Lisa was a beacon of light in a town where compassion and kindness are scarce commodities. Her generosity knew no bounds; her dedication to animals no comparison. With each candle we light, we remember how she touched us. How she inspired us to be better versions of ourselves. And, we honor the incredible legacy she leaves behind.”

And a GoFundMe has been set up here.

A reader passes on the sad news from Wagtime:

“It is with unimaginable sadness that we share the news of Lisa Schreiber’s passing yesterday morning. As each of you knows, Lisa was the heart and soul of Wagtime. She cared for every dog in our daycare as if he was one of her own. Wagtime was her passion. You were her family.

Lisa loved her work. From the very first days of her dog walking business all the way through the opening and running of Wagtime and Wagtime Too, Lisa was always looking for ways to provide better care. Help more dogs. Reach more people. Nothing escaped her notice, from the smallest dogs in grooming to the largest dogs in daycare. From the overnight stay petsitting to the daily dog walking visits. Lisa was part of every thing we did.

Lisa opened her heart not just to your pets but to rescue dogs looking for homes. She was a tireless and passionate advocate for for our adoption dogs — and an invaluable partner to Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and Gloucester Matthews Humane Society. Lisa’s passion — and compassion — saved the lives of thousands of dogs. And, completed the lives of thousands of families.

While this is a tremendously sad time for all of us, it is also a time to celebrate all that Lisa accomplished. All she worked so hard for. We are committed to providing the same level of excellent care that Lisa expected — and that Wagtime is known for.

Sincerely,
Ofer Khal
P.S. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Lisa’s name to either Lucky Dog Animal Rescue or Gloucester Matthews Humane Society.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
