“Welcome to Wine & Butter, Capitol Hill – Lincoln Park’s newest cafe and market!”

1023 East Capitol Street, SE

“Dear PoPville,

Welcome to Wine & Butter, Capitol Hill’s newest cafe and market!

You might know our adorable corner spot at 11th and East Capitol Street SE from its days as P&C Market. We’ve made a handful of changes — the biggest being the addition of an espresso machine so we can offer coffee drinks — but we’ve tried hard to keep the soul of the specialty neighborhood store our predecessors worked so hard to create.

Our family has lived on Capitol Hill for more than a decade and frequented the market almost daily. When we had the opportunity to buy it in 2017, we couldn’t stop thinking about how wonderful it would be to create a community gathering spot right here in our own neighborhood. We’re keeping the heart of market as we’ve always loved it: featuring the highest quality and organic milk, eggs, ice cream and meats; gourmet cheeses and a choice selection of beers. And, of course, terrific wines and creamy butters.

One thing we really wanted to do was add the element of a coffee shop. We’ve long dreamed of a place we can go to sit with our dog after running him in Lincoln Park, so we decided to make one. We brought in a cappuccino machine, signed with Illy coffee and now offer all your favorite espresso drinks. We also started bringing in our morning croissants and other pastries from one of the most authentic French bakeries in the Washington D.C. area. We hope you like them!

In the coming months we expect to be able to offer our patio for outdoor seating. We hope you’ll join us when the weather warms up for a cup of cappuccino or perhaps a glass of wine in the evening. In the meantime, please stop by for a latte and muffin to go, any of your daily small shopping needs or just to say hello!

Your neighbors,
Atilla and Lisa”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
