Ed. Note: Entries accepted through Friday, July 23rd. Remember if you have a favorite please let me know. If you emailed a photo of your pet I promise all photos will be posted, patience please, there are tons of pets in PoPville!

Porkchop

“She enjoys carrots, squeaking, and terrorizing LEGO farmers.”

Mia

“Mia was found as a stray six-week old puppy alongside a remote highway on an Apache Indian reservation in the Arizona desert, and is most likely a “Dogote” hybrid (Dad was a dog, Mom was a coyote). She is wonderful and sweet, and during her 13 years has lived in Guatemala, Honduras, and three states…making her the most well-traveled Apache Rez dog ever!”

Tula

“She likes it even better when I turn the water on.”

More great entries after the jump.

Alee and Kami

“Attached is a photo of two of our three dogs, brand new tranplantees from Burlington, Vermont to the heart of Petworth. They are both the Havanese breed. This is a photo of a recent shopping trip to Lowe’s. I don’t know if they look cool, or just darned cute!”

Oreo

“As you can recall, last year, his fight for the win was fraught with controversy. This said, he came in first runner up in 2009 in the cat contest. Subsequently we entered the same photo from the 2009 contest into the Catster.com photo contest and he made their banner ad!

Oreo makes his home in Petworth off Emerson Street NW and still loves to visit with the neighbors from the front porch. We still tell him daily that he needs a job are hoping that his entry may lead to some paying gigs. Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!”

NoVa

Wallace

“Waiting patiently for his walk to Rock Creek”

Nixon

“My name is Nixon and I love to swear and watch pro football. Oh, and I opened relations with China.”

Jonas

“Jonas is a 2 year old Dachshund Chihuahua who loves sunbathing, cuddling and long walks on the mall.”

Fibi

“Fibi (pronounced Phoebe) became an RPCD -Returned Peace Corps Dog- in November 2009. She faced great obstacles as she struggled to adjust to the carpets, stairs, and frigid temperatures of the DMV, but has since settled into a life of luxury that includes hard boiled eggs and long walks through Mt. Pleasant.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
