Today’s Rental “is filled with fun”

This rental is located at Park Road and 19th Street, NW. The Craigslist ad says:

“$1175 / 1br – $1175 1BD, Mount Pleasant, 15 Min Walk to Green/Yellow/Red Metro Line

Hello! We are looking for one person to rent the second bedroom in a two-bedroom basement apartment in a group house in Historic Mount Pleasant. The house itself is filled with fun, interesting people and the basement apartment is connected as an in-law suite but allows for separate access and living. The apartment includes its own kitchen, living area, and bathroom, with lots of storage. The unit shares the yard, deck, and hot tub with the whole house.

The unit has granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances in kitchen, its own central air and heat, dishwasher, shares a washer/dryer and is conveniently located on Park Road NW, between 18th and 19th Street close to public transportation — Green/yellow line – Mount Pleasant (15 minute walk) and Red line – Cleveland Park (20 minute walk); H3, H4 and W47-buses stop at the corner; H2, 43 and 42 buses are nearby.

The room is $1,175 including all utilities, except cable tv and internet, which we have and split equally.

Also included is bi-weekly housekeeping service for all common areas. This bedroom is available October 1st.

At present, the upstairs is all women, 9-5 professionals in their 20’s and 30’s. The current basement tenant is a laid back 24 year-old guy. We also have two cuddly kitties, so we’ve got enough pets. We share some activities (mostly culinary, art related, or outdoorsy) and an interest in sustaining a welcoming and positive house community. We’re looking for someone who is interested in joining our community. Everyone is expected to pitch in to make the house a home (inside and outside), so we are not looking for people who just want a place to crash. There is no tobacco smoking in the house. This is a gay-friendly community.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
