“Metro Transit Police announce arrest of suspect who threw urine on bus operator”

From Metro Transit Police:

“Metro Transit Police today arrested Opal L. Brown, 38, of Southeast Washington, DC, for assaulting a Metrobus operator by throwing her own urine on Saturday, August 28, 2017.

Brown was arrested by MTPD detectives at L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station shortly before noon today.

According to police, Brown was riding an X2 Metrobus on Saturday evening. Shortly before 6 p.m. on-board digital cameras captured Brown relieving herself into a cup toward the rear of the bus.

As the bus arrived at Minnesota Ave and Benning Road, NE, at 6:14 p.m. Brown approached the front of the bus and stood in the aisle holding the cup for a short period of time. When the bus arrived at the stop at Minnesota and Benning, Brown threw the urine around the protective shield and onto the bus operator. Brown then fled the scene.

The bus operator, an adult female, was taken to a local hospital to be decontaminated.

All Metrobuses are equipped with digital video systems that are constantly recording when the bus is in service. In addition, hundreds of Metrobuses have been equipped with protective shields that are intended to help protect bus operators from assaults.”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
