Whiskey Charlie Rooftop Bar coming to SW Waterfront

From a press release:

“Hoffman-Madison Waterfront (HMW), the master developer of the $2.5 billion, world-class mixed use waterfront neighborhood The Wharf, announces the October 2017 opening of its rooftop bar and lounge, Whiskey Charlie. Located along the Southwest Waterfront, Whiskey Charlie will sit atop the newly constructed Canopy by Hilton Washington DC | The Wharf hotel and boasts spectacular views of the Washington Channel, as well as DC’s iconic monument and memorials.

HMW and its hotel operator, Concord Hospitality Enterprises, engaged Endurance Management Group (EMG) to create a premium destination rooftop cocktail bar and lounge for hotel guests, residents, and visitors of The Wharf. Patrons will enjoy breathtaking waterfront views along with a curated menu of craft cocktails, lite bites, best-in-class service, and inviting atmosphere. The name is a nod to the proud maritime history and active waterfront location; “Whiskey Charlie” or “WC” is the call signal for boat captains entering the Washington Channel.

“Whiskey Charlie is intended to be both the ideal spot to start and end your evening on the waterfront,” said Mark Laport, Concord Hospitality’s President and CEO. “It enriches our vision to create irresistible spaces within vibrant communities, and we look forward to welcoming visitors and locals alike later this fall.”

Ten floors up, the 2,200-square-foot, elevated space features an outdoor rooftop terrace with seating coves, a firepit and large planters. The glass-enclosed interior lounge features reclaimed wood and porcelain and metallic tiles to create an intimate bar with incredible panoramic views from Rosslyn to National Harbor. The Wharf’s first rooftop bar and lounge, Whiskey Charlie, joins nearly 20 food establishments opening at The Wharf this fall including Del Mar by Fabio and Maria Trabocchi, Requin by Mike Isabella and Jennifer Carroll, Hank’s Oyster Bar by Jamie Leeds, and much more.

“It has been a pleasure working with Concord to create the ideal rooftop bar for this waterfront community,” said Monty Hoffman, Founder and CEO of PN Hoffman. “Whiskey Charlie is the perfect meeting spot for before a show at The Anthem or after dinner drinks with a group of friends and joins an incredible list of recreation, entertainment venues, restaurants, and artisanal retail meant to amplify the waterfront’s convivial and social atmosphere.”

The bar at Whiskey Charlie is where new icons are born and classics are skillfully re-imagined, such as “The M2” – a delightful mixture of fresh mango nectar, Gosling’s Rum, lime, mint and simple syrup. Whiskey Charlie also offers a selection of wines by the glass, as well as local craft and draft beer.

The bar’s “flying light” menu is inspired by local and seasonal ingredients, featuring shareable enticements that are easy to mix and match and are the perfect accompaniment to your favorite cocktail. The menu features dishes including tuna tartare, meatballs, crab cake sliders, housemade soft pretzels, cheese and charcuterie and macarons – all designed to enhance the evening, not dominate it.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
