Batten down the hatches. From NWS:

“Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Some storms could be severe, with frequent lightning. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Breezy, with a southwest wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”

Update from ALERTDC:

“The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Severe Weather Warning for the District of Columbia. Severe thunderstorms have started to form in the western suburb of District. They will begin moving through District of Columbia shortly. The warning will remain in effect until 1:45pm. Power outages and tree damage are expected as the winds gust will be 50-60 mile per hour. Please use caution and take shelter as appropriate. Citizens may track the PEPCO Outages by clicking on/or copying and pasting the following web link into your browser http://www.pepco.com/pages/connectwithus/outages/OutageMaps.aspx”

“The National Weather Service has just EXTENDED the Severe Thurnder Storm Warning for the District of Columbia until 2:40pm.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
