In Other Crime Reports – 8:40am Shots Fired in Eckington – 9:30pm Shooting Homicide in Barnaby Woods

A reader reports this morning:

Several shots fired at 1st and Todd Place NE at about 8:41AM. Less than a block from McKinley Tech.”

AlertDC reports:

“MPD reports a road closure on Todd Place NE between Lincoln Road & First Place NE due to police activity. Please avoid the area. Updates will follow.”

WJLA reports:

“The shooting took place in the unit block of T Street NE. The man then ran into the Harmony Public Charter school.”

Update from MPD:

“On today’s date at approximately 0830 a man drove to the unit block of 62 Todd Street NE and dropped his girlfriend and child off at Elementary School. As the girlfriend and child entered the school the man waited in his vehicle. While waiting for her return a gold colored Lexus approached and as the Lexus slowed the driver lowered his window and fired several gun shots. The man ran into the school and waited for the arrival of MPD and DCFEMS. The man suffered from a single gunshot wound that to his arm and slight bullet graze to his stomach. The victim was conscious as he was transported to local area hospital for treatment. At this point the incident is believed to be domestic in nature the description stands for a black male with a beard driving a gold color Lexus.

The school has remained open and no one additional suffered injury.”

And MPD reports on a homicide last night:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 6900 block 32nd Street, Northwest on Sunday, December 11, 2016.

At approximately 9:30 pm, members of the Second District responded to the listed location for a Destruction of Property call. Upon arrival, members located an adult male inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent remained on the scene until he was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedent has been identified as 21-year-old Grant Copeland Dosunmu of Northwest, DC.

As part of the preliminary investigation, it appears that the suspect was inside the vehicle with the victim.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”
