From a press release:

Thursday, August 11th
5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. (or until specials run out)

Room 11, neighborhood bar, coffee shop, and restaurant, celebrates our seven year anniversary on Thursday, August 11th. As more and more neighborhood restaurants close their doors in the face of changing times, we’re proud to be celebrating seven strong years in Columbia Heights.

To celebrate, we will be offering a few of our classics for $7 each. This includes our signature Burnt Sugar Old Fashioned and Strawberry, Peach, Jalapeño St. Germain Sangria behind the bar. Our house shot of Dickel Rye and Fernet, better known as the Dickfer, will also be available for $7.

On the savory side, our classic Grilled Cheese (with Oak Shade Cheddar, Fresh Mozzarella, Caciocavallo, and Spicy Marinara) will be part of the promotion. The $7 dessert of the night, the ever-evolving Paisley Fig Honey Goat Cheesecake will take on a summery form with the help of seasonal peaches.

Room 11 opened its doors on August 10th, 2009 with partners Nick Pimentel, Paul Ruppert, Dan Searing Jr., and Ben Gilligan at the helm. The aim was to establish a neighborhood bar with a thoughtful wine list and creative cocktails, but without the pretense that typically surrounds those two components. The coffee bar expansion in 2012 highlighted Paisley Fig baker and owner Lizzy Evelyn with the addition of daytime pastries.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
