“The Royal in LeDroit Park Celebrates its First Anniversary on Monday, 6/27 with Free Cold Brew Ice Pops, All-Day Happy Hour + Launch of its Brand New Summer Rosita Vermouth”

From a press release:

“The Royal is celebrating one year in LeDroit Park on Monday, June 27 with a day of festivities, specials and free icy treats to show its appreciation to the loyal customers, neighbors and community which has supported its first year in business.

The all-day coffee shop-cocktail bar-restaurant hybrid will give away free Cold Brew Ice Pops to guests, made from Counter Culture Coffee’s limited-release Cold Hearted coffee steeped for 10 hours, with a house cold brew syrup and milk (one per customer).

The Royal will also debut on Monday its brand new house Rosita Vermouth, a summer rosé variation on its year-round blanc vermouth, available at just $5 all day. Brighter for the warm-weather season, this floral and aromatic vermouth was made with 20+ fresh herbs, locally-grown wormwood, rhubarb, rose petals and rosé wine, and aged in a 53-gallon Catoctin Creek rye barrel for several weeks. Vermouth has been the cornerstone of The Royal’s beverage program since its June 2015 opening, being the only bar in DC to serve its own housemade vermouth on tap, which is dispensed from a vintage fire extinguisher.

And to round out the celebrations, The Royal will offer all-day happy hour (11 a.m. to 1 a.m.) on Monday featuring $5 house vermouth and draft beers, $2 Rolling Rock ponies, $7 classic cocktails (selection of eight classics ranging from a Daiquiri with El Dorado White Rum, lime juice and sugar, a Paloma with Cimarron tequila, lime, grapefruit and soda, a Caipirinha with cachaca, fresh limes and sugar, and a Rye Old Fashioned with Pikesville Rye, bitters, sugar and water), and $7 wines by the glass (a daily-rotating selection of red, rosé and white).”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
