Executive Chef from Mio opening a new Restaurant Downtown – Sobremesa

mio
Mio at 1110 Vermont Avenue, NW closed in 2015

From a press release:

“Chef Giovanna Huyke is thrilled to announce the launch of a fundraising process for a new restaurant project in Washington, DC.

Chef Huyke wants to change the way people eat. She is on a mission to feed people better:

Better food.  Better flavors.  More diversity of dishes.  Better freshness.  Better health.  Better fresh.

It should not be about the price, and it’s not going to be more expensive.  In fact, it’s going to be more affordable than anything comparable. Eating well was never something that cost a lot of money.  Eating well was never something that should be exclusive.  Eating well is something that should be basic, and should be part of the fabric of how we live day-to-day.

Welcome to Sobremesa, this “untranslatable” concept which basically means:

The “space” that a meal creates to allow the magic of the relationship experience between individuals

Chef Giovanna Huyke was raised in Puerto Rico, but is a woman of the world and has been cooking for 30+ years.   The plan is to take over an existing restaurant space, with immaculate equipment and fully furnished, and which was previously owned and operated by another woman chef-owner for more than 10 years. The space is located in a vibrant, thriving, walking area of downtown Washington, DC.  The space is small enough to represent my heart and the soul of the food: warm, energetic and cozy. Expected open is 4th quarter of 2016.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
