“We might think of March as springtime, but the D.C. area is expecting snow on Friday and many will be without heat during the chilly nights to come.

Every winter, 1 in 5 residents – our neighbors, friends, and co-workers – are often forced to choose between putting food on the table, paying for rent, getting medication or heating their homes in the wintertime. More often than not, these residents and their children choose to give up heat to afford other necessities.

To give commuters a ‘taste’ of how cold it can be in a home with no heat, Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) will distribute free popsicles outside the Rosslyn and Dupont metro stops this Friday, March 4 from 7-9 a.m. to demonstrate the connection between icy cold frozen treats and temperatures inside local homes of families in need.
