From MPD:

“On Saturday, December 27th, at about 12:45 A.M., the complainant (an adult male) was walking through an alley in the 1400 block of Girard Street, NW, when he was approached by eight individuals. The subjects surrounded the complainant, and one of them displayed a handgun and demanded his property. When the complainant did not immediately comply, several of the suspects began to strike him, and one of them took his backpack containing his iPhone, U.S. Currency, and items of clothing. The suspects then fled.

Moments later, the complainant flagged down an MPD Scout Car on patrol in the area. The complainant reported the robbery to the officers, and pointed out two suspects who could still be seen down the block. The officers radioed for assistance and a foot pursuit ensued. The two suspects split up and ran, however, MPD members were successful in catching both of them. One of the suspects was a 17-year-old male, residing in NW. He was transported to the Juvenile Processing Center to be booked. The other suspect was an 18-year-old from SE, who was transported to 3D for processing. The complainant was NOT seriously injured.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
