Received a large number of tweets last night about hearing 7-8 shots fired in Petworth.

Details from MPD:

“At approximately 1130 pm officers received a call for Sounds of Gunshots in the 400 block of Delafield Place, NW.

Officers quickly responded and observed a dark colored SUV making a U turn in the block.

An attempt was made to stop the vehicle and the vehicle fled through the rear alley of the 800 block of Crittenden St., NW.

Officers then observed the vehicle being parked in the 800 block of Decatur St, NW. Suspects exited the vehicle and ran through the alley.

A perimeter was established and K9 was called. A concerned resident was able to assist officers with narrowing their search to a smaller area.

Officers located both suspect hidding in a yard while police K9 dogs were able to locate a semi automatic hand gun believed to have been used by the suspects.

An examination of the vehicle the suspects were driving revealed a large quantity of Crack.

Great work as a result of the police and community partnership established in PSA 407!”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
